But The Lord is in His holy
Temple. Let all the earth be silent before Him.
Habakkuk
2:20 NLT Bible
We live in a very busy world
where things are always happening. Our lives seem to be moving at a frantic pace,
and this seems to carry over into our time with God. In our minds, we know that
we need to make time with God a priority, but because we're busy, tired and
even distracted by things around us, we end up rushing through our time with
God. We may read a few scripture verses, hurriedly bring our needs to God and
then we're off to another activity, without really meeting with God, spending
quiet time in His Presence and allowing Him to speak to us.
Silence and solitude are very
important for us, as believers. When we condition ourselves to be still in
God's presence, we are able to hear His Voice, to receive insight and clarity
from His Word, as well as direction and guidance for our lives. It requires
discipline to be still before God because our minds are usually working
overtime, thinking about all the things we have to do. However, in our silence,
we are acknowledging God's awesome power and recognizing Him for who He
is....our Heavenly Father, our Lord and Saviour. There's peace, joy, strength,
hope, mercy and grace in His Presence. We are restored, refreshed and
rejuvenated as we surrender and relinquish control and allow God to have His
way in our lives.
Thank
you, Lord, for Your abiding Presence.
Help me to be silent before You, to listen to Your Voice, to hear what You have
to say to me. Lord, I covet Your Presence, and I leave all my cares and
distractions aside and surrender everything to you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be
Blessed!
Lydia
