Commit yourself to instruction; listen carefully to words of knowledge.

Proverbs 23:12 NLT Bible

Every day is a gift from God and should be spent in learning and growing. Aging should never be a deterrent from acquiring more knowledge. In fact, when we stop learning, we become stagnant and unproductive. As children of God, our desire should be to grow, to learn and to know more about Him. On any given day, we can give a lot of our time and attention to pleasurable and entertaining things and neglect studying and meditating on the Word of God or listening to godly counsel.

God's desire is for us to live purpose filled lives, to be productive, knowledgeable, to apply His teachings to our everyday living, to grow in wisdom and to share it with those around us. We cannot waste the precious time that He has given us in activities that are not uplifting, edifying and challenging. We must be determined and disciplined to use our time wisely and make conscious decisions to listen, study and be a part of those things that would cause us to be worthy servants of God and draw us closer to Him. It's important to remember that whatever we diligently pursue and focus on has the potential to control us and ultimately affect our destiny.

Thank you, Lord, for Your Word. With Your help, I am determined to learn, to listen to godly counsel, to study and meditate on Your Word and to grow in knowledge. My desire is to use my time wisely and to be a true and worthy servant. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
