He lifted me out of the pit of
despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and
steadied me as I walked along.
Psalm
40:2 NLT Bible
At some point in our lives,
we've all been in the pit, filled with despair and hopelessness, brought about
by pain, sickness, overflowing debt, marital problems and a myriad of other
problems, some of which we may be responsible for. We cannot stay down and
wallow in our misery and pain. Whether we believe it or not, God is with us and
if we remain in faith and hold on tightly to Him, He will lift us out of the
pit. It's easy to feel trapped and lost when we're in this state, but to remain
like this causes us to sink deeper and deeper into despair and discouragement.
In our helpless state, we must
be very careful about who pulls us out of our misery. So many times, people
find themselves trapped and indebted for life by accepting help from corrupt
and self-seeking friends and acquaintances. Our
help comes from God and if we cry out to Him from the depths of our heart and
cling tenaciously to Him, He will lift us out, steady us and set our feet on
solid ground. God is moved by our praise and when we're at our lowest, we need
to never stop praising, thanking and worshipping Him. It's not easy being in a
pit of despair, but if we never lose our hope and trust in God, not only will
He deliver us, but we will be drawn into a deeper, closer and more intimate
relationship with Him.
Thank
you, Lord, for lifting me out of the
depths of despair. I know that You alone will make a way where there seems to
be no way. I feel lost and alone, but I lift my eyes and hands up to You and
I'm holding on. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be
Blessed!
Lydia
