Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they
will not leave it.
Proverbs 22:6 NLT Bible
As parents, we have a duty to lead and guide our children during their
formative years. What they learn from watching and listening to us will play a
big role in their behaviour in later years. We must teach them to love, honour,
obey and fear God and our lives must exemplify this. Our children need to know
the importance of hard work and respect for self and each other. It all begins
in the home where we ensure that these values are part of our daily lives.
It's important to set aside time for family devotions, to pray with our
children and read His Word together. We also need to discipline them by setting
rules, establishing boundaries and consequences and following through with
them. Above all, we need to love them, to be present and available, letting
them know how special and unique they are. When we bring our children up to
obey and honour God, they may go off course for awhile, but will always get
back on track. Within each child is the potential to fulfil a God given
destiny, but we, as parents, must do our part.
Thank you, Lord, for my children. Help me to bring them up to fear,
honour and obey you and let my life be an example of holy and righteous living.
Let me always love and respect them. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
