There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers,
just as The Lord had promised through Elijah.
1 Kings 17:16 NLT Bible
Many of us have grown up in homes and witnessed our parents freely
sharing whatever they had with anyone in need........a relative, an unexpected
visitor or even a stranger. Yet, miraculously, there was always enough for
those of us at home. We were never hungry or in need. This is what happened
with this widow when she met Elijah. She was obedient and used the
little flour and oil that she had to make food for the prophet and God
multiplied it and amazingly, there was always enough left in the containers to
cook each day, just as He had promised.
This principle applies to us today. God wants to bless us and meet our
needs, but we have to be faithful, obedient and sensitive to others in need.
When we bless them with the little that we have, somehow God multiplies it, all
our needs are met and there is always enough for us. We are blessed in ways we
never imagined. We may try to rationalize our reasons for not helping someone
in need, by saying that we don't have enough for ourselves, our finances are limited,
and we just can't do it. This is when we have to walk by faith, trust God and
be obedient. As we open our hands and share what we have with someone, God then
blesses us in unexpected and miraculous ways.
Thank you, Lord for Your many blessings! May I always be willing to use
whatever You have blessed me with to help someone in need. Help me to be
obedient to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Lord, I trust in Your
faithfulness and know that You will always provide for me. I love you, Jesus.
Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
