So, he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way
off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his
son, embraced him and kissed him.
Luke 15:20 NLT Bible
Most of us are familiar with the parable of the prodigal son, who took
his inheritance, wasted it on riotous living and ended up living with pigs.
This verse tells us of the father's reaction when his son returned home after
coming to his senses and realizing the gravity of his wrongdoing. His father
saw him coming, was filled with love and compassion and ran to him with
outstretched arms and embraced him. If only we can visualize this, we would
realize that this is how Jesus reacts when a sinner comes home. He readily
forgives us, wipes the slate clean of all our transgressions and we become His
children.
We need to recognize that despite what we've done, God is ready to
forgive us. We've probably strayed far from what we know to be morally right,
violated our code of ethics and we're ashamed and wonder if there's any hope
for us. We need to come to Jesus in our broken state, repent and know that He
is merciful, loves us with an unconditional love and will forgive us. He's
waiting for us and His arms are open wide. All we have to do is to run to Him.
Thank you, Lord, for your unconditional love. Forgive me for what I've
done, for turning my back on You. Cleanse me Lord and create a new and right
spirit within me. I love you Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
