And may The
Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow.
1 Thessalonians 3:12 NLT
Bible
As believers, we are quick
to emphasize the importance of keeping Christ in Christmas and this is a belief
we must embrace, but Christ needs to be in our lives every single day of every
year and not only during the Christmas season. Somehow, when Christmas comes
around, people are kinder and more caring. They are generous, tolerant,
patient, giving and all in all, just seem to be so much nicer. Our love for
each other and for all people must extend beyond the Christmas season and spill
over into our behaviour and actions all year long.
Each day, kindness,
compassion, generosity, humility and forgiveness should be visible in our
lives, through the little things we do to ease another's burden. At
Christmastime, we may visit the elderly, call a lonely or hurting friend, bless
someone financially or assist in feeding the homeless. These are tangible
things that we should do all through the year as the needs are the same. Jesus
is the reason for the season, but He is also the reason for everything else in
our lives and if we truly love Him, every kind deed and action we show at
Christmas will be reflected in all we do throughout the year. Loving God
involves loving and caring for others in anyway we can and freely forgiving
when we are wronged. We can keep the spirit of Christmas alive by living and
loving just like Our Heavenly Father.
Thank you, Lord, that You
are the reason for the season! Help me to let my love for others spill over
into all my actions throughout the year and not only at Christmastime. Let me
never miss an opportunity to care, share and bless those who are in need, I
love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
