Then He said, " I
tell you the truth. Unless you turn from your sins and become like little
children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven."
Matthew 18:3 NLT Bible
Oftentimes, as adults, we
allow doubts, fears, insecurities and inhibitions to impact our trust and faith
in God. In this verse, Jesus is saying that we need to turn from our sins and
become like little children to get into the Kingdom of Heaven. If we
pause for a moment and reflect about the qualities of children, we will
recognize that they are inherently trusting and loving. They have a teachable
spirit, are basically non-judgmental and have no 'hang ups' at all regarding
race, colour or creed.
There's a simplicity and
humility in children and many of these attributes are sometimes lacking in us
as grown-ups. God is saying that if we can pattern ourselves after children, it
would be so much easier to love, serve and obey Him. We would come to God
freely with no preconceived notion and just allow ourselves the freedom to
worship Him as we should. It's running to God with the unconditional and
uninhibited love and dependence that is so apparent in children and simply
surrendering everything to Him.
Thank you, Lord, for
calling me Your child. I come to you today with childlike faith, putting all my
hope and trust in you alone. Lord, I am totally dependent on you and I
rededicate my life to you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
