Delilah lulled Samson to
sleep with his head in her lap, and then she called in a man to shave off the
seven locks of his hair. In this way, she began to bring him down, and his
strength left him.
Judges
16:19
NLT Bible
Samson was a Nazarite, set
apart for service to God. However, it was his weakness for Delilah that proved
tragic for him in the end. He was smitten by her and she coerced him into
divulging the secret about his extraordinary strength....his hair was never to
be cut. As we read in this verse, she had his hair cut, his strength left him
and he was captured and enslaved by the Philistines. However, his hair grew
back and he cried out to God and used his new strength to destroy the temple of
the philistine god, killing himself and thousands of Philistines.
Today, there are many people who have a 'Delilah' in their lives.
It's a weakness that has the potential to cripple and destroy their lives. They
are caught up in a web of infidelity, lust, addiction and much more and lack
the power to break free. It's not too late. The answer can be found in God, but
we must first recognize our condition, confess it to Him and allow Him to set
us free.
Thank you Lord for being my Deliverer. This weakness
is consuming and controlling my life and I seem unable to break free. Today, I
surrender it all to You and pray that You will set me free. I love you, Jesus.
Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
