But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

We are all flawed and constantly battling fleshly desires but if the Holy Spirit dwells in us, our lives will reflect the fruit of the the Holy Spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control will be evident in our lives. This is an ongoing process for us, one that requires total surrender to God, relinquishing control to the Holy Spirit. It is not always easy to exhibit these qualities and occasions will arise when we will be impatient or unkind. We may lack self-control and joy and peace may be absent, but as we acknowledge our struggles and failures to God, He forgives us and with His help, we can continue to live as He wants us to.

These qualities are found in Christ alone and as we walk with Him, spending time in prayer and the Word, our hearts and minds are renewed and refreshed and with the Holy Spirit in us, we are able to move forward. As believers, the fruit of the Holy Spirit must be evident in every area of our lives, in our words and actions. People must be drawn to Christ because they can see evidence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Thank you Lord for the Holy Spirit. My desire is that the fruit of the Holy Spirit be evident in my life. Forgive me Lord, when I fail and succumb to my fleshly desires. Give me the strength to pick myself up and continue living for you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
