Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with discipline and instruction that comes from The Lord.

Ephesians 6:4 NLT Bible

On this day, fathers everywhere are being honoured and remembered. Many of us have fathers who are no longer with us, but thankfully we treasure the memories of times spent with them. Fathers have such an important role to play in the lives of their children. First and foremost, they are required to love them, showing it in everything they say and do. Fathers also need to discipline and instruct their children, establishing clear guidelines and boundaries, correcting when necessary, but doing it with love and compassion.

Fathers need to be godly examples and role models for their children, letting their lives reflect Christ, always being mindful that they are being watched and that children will emulate them. They need to respect their children, treat them as individuals, recognize how unique and special each child is, spend quality time with them, praise and appreciate them. Fathers need to nurture a love for God in their children, setting time aside daily for reading God's Word and praying together. They need to lead, guide, protect and care for their children, recognizing the enormous responsibility that's been entrusted to them and the role they have to play as fathers in helping their children reach their God given potential.

Thank you Lord for fathers everywhere! I pray that You would bless and help them as they guide their children and may they bring them up to fear, honour and obey You. Lord, help them to lead by example and to nurture and instil a love for You in them. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!

Lydia
