The Lord is my light and my salvation - so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?

Psalm 27:1 NLT Bible

Sometimes we allow ourselves to become prisoners of fear. It grips and consumes us and we live our lives in the shadows, unable to realize our God given potential. Many things cause us to be afraid and we forget that God is our light, salvation and fortress, protecting us from peril and danger. Sometimes we allow darkness to fill our minds as we feel overwhelmed by situations. Many of us are afraid of the future, of becoming sick, being alone, losing a job and our list of fears goes on and on.

There is no need to succumb to fear. God is our fortress. When fear enters our minds, we must immediately quell it and run to God, who is our mighty fortress, protecting us from danger. As children of God, we must never forget that with God on our side, we can be victorious and overcome everything that can keep us captive and hinder us from being all that God has called us to be.

Thank you Lord for being my light, salvation and fortress. I don't have to succumb to fear because You are my light and my fortress and I can run to you when I'm afraid. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
