Then Jesus wept.
John 11:35 NLT Bible
Jesus had just been told
that Lazarus was dead and Martha and Mary were filled with anguish. This
touched the heart of Jesus and even though He knew that soon He would raise
Lazarus from the dead, He was so moved with love and compassion that He wept.
We need to recognize the depth of God's love and compassion for us. Are we
touched by the fact that Jesus wept? The Bible tells us that God is moved by
what is happening in the world. He feels our pain, heartache and sorrow and if
we let Him, He will draw close to us during our times of sadness and
despair.
It's
easy to imagine our Saviour looking down at us and weeping by some of what He
sees………rejection, ungodliness, blatant disobedience and we, as His children,
should be impacted by this. Firstly, it should cause us to change and secondly,
it should also motivate us to move beyond ourselves and be affected by the
cares of others around us, who are suffering, lost and in need of a Saviour.
God is moved and we should be too, but our tears and concern must spur us to
action. We need to be the hands of God extended to those around us who need our
help.
Thank
you Lord for Your compassion and for caring about my pain. I pray that I will
always be affected by the suffering of those around me and that I will care
about those who are lost and need You in their lives. I love you, Jesus, Amen!
Be
Blessed!
