Catch all the
foxes, those little foxes before they ruin the vineyard of love, for the
grapevines are blossoming!
Song
of Solomon 2:15
NLT Bible
Those of us with gardens know that if we don't get rid of the weeds that sprout up so quickly, pretty soon, our gardens will be overrun with weeds and healthy plants all blended together. In the same way, we have to be vigilant and on guard against the 'little foxes' that sneak up quietly on us with one intent, to ruin and destroy us. Foxes are known to be sly, cunning and crafty and can pounce on us when we least expect it, usually when we are really desiring to serve God. Our relationship with God can be threatened by little things and we need to identify and snuff them out before they wreak havoc on our relationship with Him.
We have to
identify these 'little foxes' before they rob us of our peace and joy. It could
be discontent, anger, envy, hatred, pride, selfishness, lust, busyness,
indifference, obsession with social media, pornography and the list can go on
and on, being specific to each one of us. The only way to rid ourselves of
these destructive things is to centre our thoughts on God, be zealous in our
pursuit of Him and be ever discerning of the things that can stunt our
spiritual growth and cloud
our witness for God.
Thank
you Lord for the spirit of discernment. Help me to be vigilant and on guard
against the little things that can affect my relationship with you. My desire
is to put you first and to please you in all I say and do. I love you, Jesus.
Amen!
Be
Blessed!
Lydia
