SUNDAY INSPIRATION and PRAYER

Stay away from idols! I am the One who answers your prayers and cares for you."

Hosea 14:8

God cares for us and wants to fellowship with us, but many of us have allowed idols to stand between us and God and as a result, our relationship with Him is threatened. God is the only One who can hear and answer our prayers and it is important that we let nothing affect our relationship with Him. An idol is essentially anything or anyone that we worship or idolize. Sometimes, as children of God, we get caught up in idolatry, putting things and people ahead of Him. Idols can be our possessions, our children, our friends or anything else that causes us to exclude God and keep us away from living for Him.

God has to be first in our lives and we are to worship and serve Him alone. Nothing must come before Him. He longs for us to spend time in His Presence. It is during these intimate times with God, we are afforded the opportunity to listen to Him, worship Him and share our cares and concerns. We are edified and strengthened and have the assurance that God will answer us. We must recognize that God cannot respond to us, if we are preoccupied and obsessed with other things. As His children, we need to live pure and holy lives and to do so, we must get rid of the 'idols' in our lives and rededicate ourselves to God.

 

Thank you Lord for caring for me. Help me to always put You first in my life, to never allow anything or anyone to take Your place. You alone can answer my prayers and I worship and praise Your holy Name. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
