It's sad and tragic when we hear of someone ending their life because of depression. As children of God, we need to open our eyes to this startling revelation that there are many people around us who are depressed and bogged down with a sense of hopelessness and despair. No one is immune from this. In fact, many of us may have felt like this at one point or another. The danger is when it persists.

We have to be alert, sensitive and compassionate to the feelings of those around us. Oftentimes, fake smiles plaster faces that house hearts filled with depression and sadness. We have to be the arms of God extended to a hurting world, with caring hearts and shoulders to lean on. We need to encourage those who are hurting to never give up and to put their hope in God. Slowly, but surely, with God's help, the light becomes visible at the end of the tunnel. God cares about His children and we must too.

Thank you Lord for caring for me. Help me to have a compassionate and sensitive heart, to reach out to those who are in the depths of despair, to share Your love and let them know that there's hope in You. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
