SUNDAY INSPIRATION and PRAYER

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Proverbs 4:23 NLT Bible

The heart is at the centre of everything in our lives and reveals who we really are. It causes everything else to function, so it's critical that we guard it closely. Whatever we keep in our hearts and minds determines the path we take, so we must avoid anything that would throw us off course. To keep our hearts and minds centred on the things of God, we must censor our thoughts and words and make sure that they are edifying and uplifting.  Our actions follow our thoughts, so we need to have clean and pure thoughts filling our minds at all times. If we don't guard our hearts, we allow negative thoughts, bitterness, envy, pride, lust, greed and deceit to fill our minds.

 

We must be on guard and vigilant! The enemy is always prowling around, intent on luring us and also our children away from serving God. We have to be mindful of what we listen to, the conversations we participate in, the jokes we laugh at, the shows we watch and the internet sites we view. Everything we say and do must be pleasing to God and it all begins in the heart. We need to come to God daily, asking Him to create clean and pure hearts within us, to renew our minds and to let our actions be pleasing and acceptable. As we fellowship with God and study His Word, our thoughts, speech and actions will ultimately be impacted. 

Thank you Lord for loving me. Create in me a clean heart and a right spirit. Let my thoughts, words and actions be pleasing and edifying. I want to bring honour and glory to you. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
