Don’t
forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have
entertained angels without realizing it!
Hebrews 13:2 NLT Bible
Oftentimes,
we are guilty of staying in our cozy circle of family and friends and we
exclude people we don’t know. As children of God, we are called to embrace and
include everyone, both friends and strangers alike, showing them the love of
God in tangible and meaningful ways. This involves getting out of our comfort
zone and being hospitable to everyone. All around us are people who may
appreciate a kind word, a hot meal, warm clothes, some financial help or just spending
time with us. We need to give generously of our time and resources to anyone in
need, regardless of their social status or ethnicity.
To be
hospitable encompasses being kind and caring at all times, without grumbling or
complaining! Most of us are familiar with the parable of the Good Samaritan,
who saw a man beaten and left alone at the side of the road and he simply cared
for him, without a thought about his background. This should be our mindset
about being hospitable. It’s opening our hearts and hands to anyone in need,
because loving God involves loving all people! This verse also tells us that
many people have been kind to strangers and have unknowingly entertained
angels. What an awesome thought! We should purpose to never let opportunities
pass us by to be hospitable.
Thank you Lord for your gift of hospitality. I pray I will always
be kind to both friends and strangers alike without grumbling or complaining.
Let Your love be evident in everything I say and do. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
