Our children are precious gifts from God and a blessing to us. As parents and grandparents, we have a responsibility to share God’s love and goodness with them. This is not something that should be taken lightly, because if we don’t tell them, they will never know. We are not going to be around forever, so the onus is on us to pass on our values and core beliefs to them and we should never let an opportunity pass us by. At home, parents need to get in the habit of setting aside all distractions like television, mobile phones and social media and instead focus on telling their children about the awesome and wonderful deeds of our great God.

When driving with their children, walking in the park, around the dinner table or engaging in other activities, parents can have teachable moments to share about the love, mercy, goodness and compassion of God. They need to forego meaningless and insignificant activities and invest time in teaching their children to love, honour and obey God. There are so many outside influences competing for their attention and parents must make it a priority to fill their minds with how wonderful it is to know and love God, so that people with undesirable traits won’t be able to influence them. Above all, parents are to be living examples to their children, letting them witness God being at the centre of their lives. This is by far the best legacy that parents can leave to their children!

Thank you Lord for children everywhere. Help us all as parents and grandparents to never miss an opportunity to share Your marvellous works, power and love with them. Above all, may our lives always reflect You. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
