𝓢𝓤𝓝𝓓𝓐𝓨 𝓘𝓝𝓢𝓟𝓘𝓡𝓐𝓣𝓘𝓞𝓝 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓟𝓡𝓐𝓨𝓔𝓡

The one thing I ask of the Lord— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in His Temple.

In this New Year this should be the desire of every child of God. Above everything else, the one thing we should continually strive for is to live in the house of the Lord forever. We are living in an age when people desire material things above everything else. As this verse tells us, all David wanted was God. His greatest desire was to be in His presence, worshiping and adoring Him and spending time in prayer and fellowship with Him. As His children, this should also be our desire. We should covet a deep hunger for Him and a yearning to always be in His presence all the days of our lives.

This doesn’t happen through wishful thinking, but rather through a life of devotion and dedication to our Lord Jesus Christ. This verse challenges us to act and not be passive! It’s having an ongoing and daily hunger for God that propels us to seek Him, to meditate on His Word and commune with Him. It becomes a consuming passion that burns within us. We literally want more and more of God! Our journey as believers doesn’t end when we die, but continues on forever and ever. However, while we’re here on earth, each day affords us a new opportunity to draw closer to God and deepen our walk with Him. 

Thank you Lord for Your abiding presence. In this New Year, my desire is to draw close to You. Lord, the thing that I desire most is to live with You forever and ever. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
