Bible Verse for December 5th.

“Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others.”

I Corinthians 10:24

NLT Bible

Many people live isolated and self-absorbed lives inside a bubble, just invested in themselves. Oftentimes, it’s unintentional, but for many it’s deliberate. They are simply not concerned about the needs of others. Instead, they are forever consumed with their personal needs and interests, totally oblivious to the people around them. This is not how God wants us to live! His desire is for us to venture beyond our self-imposed boundaries and take an interest in the lives of others and be genuinely concerned about them.

God wants us to serve others and to do good for them. How can we effectively do this? We can start by taking our eyes off our own concerns and problems and instead focus on the people around us. We need to minister to their needs, be interested in their lives, be empathetic, kind and compassionate. With Christmas just around the corner, so many are dealing with loss, loneliness, financial difficulty and wondering how to navigate the holiday season. We can help! All that’s needed is letting go of our selfish desires and extending a helping hand. We can reach out to a loved one, a neighbour, a colleague, a frontline worker who’s at his/her breaking point, a mother who’s trying to cope with the demands of her family or just a stranger. Opportunities abound for us to do good for others. When we do, our life takes on new meaning. It becomes richer and we are fulfilled in ways we never imagined.

Thank you Lord for Your love and compassion. Open my eyes to those around me. Help me to do good for them and put their needs and interests above my own. Let me be of service in any way I can I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!

Lydia
