Bible Verse for October 31st.

But my eyes are fixed on you, Sovereign Lord.

Psalms 141:8 NIV Bible

Many of us spend a lot of time focusing on people who do nothing to uplift and edify us. This verse challenges us to fix our eyes solely on Jesus. We cannot look to people as they are flawed, make mistakes and fail. It may be friends, colleagues or even celebrities. We become engrossed in their lives, hanging on to what they say and do and ultimately, this does nothing to edify us. However, it does not negate the fact that we need to be invested in those around us, but our focus needs to be on God.

In the book of Matthew, we learn of Peter who walked on water as he kept his gaze centered on Jesus. However, when he looked away for a brief moment, he began to sink. How does this apply to us? We need to keep our eyes on God at all times! When we do, we avoid the many pitfalls that are all around us that threaten to overpower and consume us. Instead, we focus on all that is good, pure, edifying and uplifting. Our faith grows and we are strengthened physically, emotionally and spiritually. Our walk with God needs to be the most important thing in our lives and it requires determination, devotion and dedication. We have to gaze continually on Him and not allow ourselves to be sidetracked. As believers, may we always have our eyes fixed on Almighty God!

Thank you Lord for loving me. Help me to keep my eyes on You and not on the people around me. My desire is to live for You all the days of my life. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!

Lydia
