We all know people with the uncanny ability to say just the right thing at exactly the right time. With just mere words, they can make you feel special, loved and cared for. They speak to you and right away you feel that you matter and that whatever’s concerning you will turn out alright. As children of God, we should strive to use our words wisely and carefully. The things we say should validate, edify and encourage others and make them feel good about themselves.

People are basically products of their environment and usually respond with what they know. Oftentimes, they’ve been yelled at or never had nice things said about them and as a result, go through life doing the same to others. The way we speak to others is a reflection of what’s in our heart. It’s so heartwarming to receive words of kindness, encouragement, praise or comfort when we need it the most. We all need to develop a sensitivity to say the right thing at the right time. It goes a long way in lifting the spirits of others.

Thank you Lord for Your wisdom. Help me to use my words to encourage and edify others. With Your help, I pray that I will always say the right thing at the right time. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
