In these verses we are given specific guidelines for everyday living and challenged to stay focused and not be distracted or sidetracked by what's happening around us. We're living in a world where moral lines are increasingly becoming blurred and many people seem confused and unsure about beliefs that they formerly regarded as absolute truths. As a result, many believers find themselves deviating from the straight and narrow path, flirting constantly with temptation.
We are to look straight ahead, keeping our eyes on what lies ahead of us. Regardless of what others are doing, we cannot allow the pleasures of the world to distract us and cause us to stray off the path God has set before us. This only leads to our downfall! To ensure that we stay on the right road we must be committed, dedicated and devoted to Almighty God. We have to fix our gaze steadfastly on Him and actively engage in daily communion and fellowship with Him through prayer and meditating on His Word. If we do this, when we come to crossroads in our lives, where decisions have to be made as to where we should go or what we should do, we will most certainly stay on the safe path and away from evil.
Thank you Lord for Your Word! Help me to never be distracted by all that's happening around me and to always keep my heart, mind and eyes focused on You. Lord, keep me on the straight path and may I always do what's pleasing to You. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
