"And so the Lord says, "These people say they are mine. They honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. And their worship of me is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote."
Isaiah 29:13
NLT Bible
Many people are good at saying all the right things to others, but oftentimes it's merely words that really don't mean a lot and there's no truth or emotion behind them. The same can be said of our relationship with God. There are those who say they belong to Him, honour Him verbally, but their hearts are far from Him. So many times we go through the motions of reciting prayers and singing hymns learnt over the years, but remain seemingly disconnected from it all. However, this is not what God desires from us.
God is not pleased with mere lip service, vain and ritualistic worship. He covets true and sincere worship that comes from a heart of devotion, love and commitment to Him. Worshiping God is when we express our deepest feelings for Him and we must be actively involved in it. If we truly love God, our senses are awakened as we worship and we feel alive and rejuvenated in His presence. Our words aren't empty and meaningless, but instead they come from hearts filled with truth, sincerity, praise and thankfulness. Our relationship with God needs to be the most important thing in our lives and should be reflected in our worship to Him. It's only possible through complete and daily surrender of our lives to Him.
Thank you Lord for loving me. You are worthy and I praise and worship Your holy Name. I pray that I will always honour You in all I say and do. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
