Bible Verse for February 21st.

To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭
NLT‬‬ Bible

Most of us dislike being corrected. Oftentimes, when someone tells us that we've done something wrong, we become defensive and try to validate our actions, even though we know they're telling the truth. It's important to know that If we want to learn, to grow and mature as believers, as well as succeed in life, we have to be open and willing to accept correction and discipline. Parents chastise and discipline their children because they love them and want only the best for them. Similarly, when someone corrects us, we need to embrace it and learn from it because that person cares about us.

Proverbs 25:11-12 tells us that timely advice and valid criticism is good and we should be receptive to it. Our refusal to be corrected implies that we know it all and that what we are doing is right. We then continue on the same path ignoring all advice and correction. As followers of God, we must have a teachable spirit and be willing to learn from what is being said to us. Our willingness to accept correction provides a credible witness to those around us. It's important to note that when correction is meted out with love, kindness and compassion, it's easier to receive. As we journey along life's pathway, we will inevitably do things that are wrong or can be done differently and we must be open to advice and instructions. This shows our maturity as believers and allows us to grow and become wiser.

Thank you Lord for leading and directing me. May I always be open to discipline and correction from others. Give me a teachable spirit. I love you, Jesus. Amen!

Be Blessed!
Lydia
