A new year has dawned once more. Many people are busy making New Year resolutions about a myriad of things such as their health, diet, finances and many other lifestyle changes. Still, many others are simply trying to stay afloat after a harrowing 2020. However, in spite of it all, the best thing we can do in 2021 is to appropriate what this verse says. As followers of God, our heart's desire should be to have a closer and deeper walk with God. If we truly love Him, we would experience a deep hunger and an ongoing desire for intimacy with Him. Fellowship with God must be our number one priority.

How do we draw close to God? We start by spending time in His Presence, through prayer and by reading and meditating on His Word. When we draw near to God, He in turn, draws near to us. He reveals His will for our lives and we are edified, strengthened, uplifted and encouraged. We need to begin and end each day with God. He should be constantly on our minds. We need to be resolute and committed in our quest to deepen our relationship with God this year. We cannot allow anything or anyone to keep us away from Him. God yearns for us to draw near to Him. We need to purpose in this new year to come close to God. Rest assured, if we do, He will also come close to us.

Thank you Lord for this new year. My desire is to deepen my walk with You and to draw closer and closer to You with each passing day. I rededicate my life to You. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
