This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalms 118:24
NKJV
Living in the moment.......I think that this comes with age. Years ago, I would always be thinking ahead..planning what I would be going to do tomorrow, next week, next month and if it was something big, counting down the days to that event. Don't get me wrong.....It's good to plan ahead but not to the point where it robs us of the moment.
There might be nothing special happening at any given time, but I do believe that God wants us to savour each second every day of our lives. As this verse tells us this is the day God has made and we need to rejoice and be glad in it. This means savouring every moment and embracing it to the fullest. That's a tall order because life is filled with numerous problems and challenges and there are times when we just want the day to be over and so we look forward with great anticipation to waking up to a brand new day, hopefully, one that is happy and free of problems. Is this the reason why so many of us are living in a fast forward state of mind, constantly yearning for tomorrow? I don't believe this is God's plan for us. So, the question then arises as to how we should cope with such a challenging situation. It's simple, theoretically, that is, because it just involves giving it all to God....the good and the bad. The difficult part is putting it into practice and this is an ongoing lesson. We can look forward to tomorrow, to next week, but we need to grasp each moment and enjoy it. The reality is...that's all we have been given..THIS MOMENT. Enjoy it!
Thank you Lord for today, for this moment. Help me to make the best use of it....to appreciate it and to honor and glorify You. Help me to surrender to the moment knowing that You are in control of every situation in my life. Amen
Be Blessed!
Lydia
