My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favour some people over others?
James 2:1
NLT Bible
Many of us have met someone who favour some people over others for a variety of reasons. It could be their ethnicity, skin colour, financial or social status and a host of other inconsequential reasons. How then can we claim to love God and have faith in Him and yet be so prejudiced in our thinking? As believers, we must recognize that people are the same everywhere. They have the same concerns, dreams, hopes and aspirations like the rest of us, love their children and desire the best for them just like we do.
We are all created by Almighty God in His own image and this in itself should want us to treat all people equally. Our love for Him should continually propel us to regard our fellow human beings as equal and this should be reflected in our interactions with them. In actuality, we would be hypocrites if we treat people differently because of who they are. Loving God means treating others the same, whether they are rich or poor, black or white, young or old and well dressed or poorly dressed. Our unbiased treatment and love for all people presents itself as a living testimony of our faith in Jesus and our love for Him. This is what God expects of us.
Thank you Lord that I am made in Your image. Help me to treat others equally and to never favour some people over others. Help me to appreciate everyone for their uniqueness and to love and respect them all. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
