Bible Verse for July 5th.

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.

Hebrews 12:2

This verse challenges us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus who is the champion and perfecter of our faith. We cannot look to people as they are flawed, will make mistakes and may sometimes fail. We also can't afford to be distracted by what is happening around us, by the voices and events that are hitting us from every corner. If our eyes aren't looking to Jesus, it's easy to let the things of the world as well as our concerns, fears and failures overpower us. Then we find ourselves succumbing to temptation, discouragement, even defeat and being led astray. As a result we become stagnant and our relationship with God suffers.

Our walk with Him needs to be the most important thing in our lives. It requires determination, devotion and dedication. When we're focused on God it becomes easier to withstand whatever life throws at us. Every day we have to look to Him and not allow ourselves to be sidetracked. As we do, our faith increases and we are able to keep moving forward and run the race He has set before us.

Thank you Lord for all You've done for me. I pray that I will always keep my eyes fixed on You alone. My desire is to glorify You in all I say and do. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
