Some of us have been hurt by the wrongs that have been inflicted on us by those we love. We may be tempted to retaliate with harsh and unkind thoughts that we oftentimes verbalize. However, this verse encourages us to keep on loving and to overlook any offences because that's what true love is all about.

This does not mean condoning or accepting what was done. It simply means making a choice to forgive because we love the person. We cannot do this on our own strength because our emotions would cause us to become bitter and enraged about what was done. However, with God's help it's possible as we continue to love Him and each other.

Thank you Lord for loving me. Help me to show deep and genuine love for those around me. Help me to overlook any offences meted out to me. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
