We live in an age where someone or something is constantly vying for our attention. It seems we're caught up in a whirlwind of ongoing activity. We schedule time to be alone with God, but somehow our minds never seem to shut off and we allow ourselves to be distracted. Finally we refocus, but spend all our time talking to God and devote no time whatever to being quiet in His Presence.
This verse challenges us to be still before God. This is when we hear His voice and when He makes Himself real to us. It is during this time of stillness that we can sense His Presence in a tangible way and get answers to the problems besetting us. If we really want to know God intimately, we must learn to listen to Him.
Thank you Lord for Your abiding Presence. My deepest desire is to know You. Let me be quiet before You and listen to Your voice. I love you Jesus. Amen!
