Fix your thoughts on what is true and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Over the years, I've read this verse again and again and aspired to its truth. I failed on numerous occasions because my thoughts were not what they should be. However, situations allow one the opportunity to assess the things that are really important in life and to also zero in on the things that are filling one's mind on a daily basis. I know for certain that I don't want to waste time thinking impure thoughts or focusing on things that don't bring edification, hope and honour to myself and others.
Things happen suddenly and without warning, as was evident in my case. As I move forward, my desire is to fill my mind with all that is good, gracious, noble, true and edifying. It's not easy, but I've found that the key is focusing solely on God and building my life around Him.
Thank you Lord for my mind. Help me to centre my thoughts on everything that is true, honourable, pure and worthy of praise. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
