"And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgement day for every idle word you speak".
Matthew 12:36
NLT Bible
Each one of us is accountable for everything we do and we say, including every written word. In this age of social media, it's so easy to share our feelings and opinions about people and some of the situations in their lives. In fact, almost immediately, with just a quick touch on our mobile devices or computers, our views are shared. More and more, we see some people being mean and spiteful, posting derogatory comments with no thought about the feelings of the other person.
Our words, whether spoken or written, have the power to heal and edify or tear down and destroy. God holds us accountable for our every word we use. As His children, the onus is on us to censor our words. When in doubt, the wisest thing we can do is to be silent and refrain from sharing anything. In Psalm 141:3, David is asking God to take control of what he says and to guard his lips. This needs to be our daily prayer.
Thank you Lord for the gift of speech. I recognize that my words have power to edify and also destroy. Help me to use them wisely and to think before I speak. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
