Esther lived a privileged life as queen in the palace, but never told the King that she was Jewish. Now she was privy to the alarming fact that a plot was in place to kill her beloved Jewish people. She had two choices, to remain silent or speak up on behalf of the Jews, recognizing that just maybe, she was made queen for such a time as this.
Many times, we remain silent when we should speak up. We allow injustice and bad behaviour to pervade because we lack the courage to speak. We need to recognize that maybe God has a purpose for positioning us where we are. We're there to speak up on behalf of those who cannot, to testify to someone's character and credibility or on behalf of a good cause. We can learn from Esther who showed courage and strength, speaking up when she needed to and ultimately saving the lives of her people.
Thank you Lord for courage. Help me to speak up when needed, to never remain silent and allow injustice to run rampant. Let me recognize that You have placed me where I am for a specific purpose. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
