You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy.
Psalm 30:11
NLT Bible
We've all experienced sadness and mourning at some point in our lives and these are real emotions that cannot be trivialized. We may have lost a loved one, suffered the end of a relationship or experienced some other tragedy. It's normal and healthy to mourn, but when we remain in that state, we become defeated and depressed and our life comes to a stop. God has promised to turn our mourning into joy. Mourning is not permanent and we cannot let it take over our lives.
Those of us who have lost loved ones who've known Jesus as their Lord and Saviour recognize that they're in heaven with Him. There's no more pain or suffering and they would want us to continue living happy, joy filled lives. A relationship may have ended, but in time, a new one will come our way. Recovery from grief is not instant. It's ongoing for many, but as we cling to God, His Word and the care and compassion of godly friends, our grief dissipates and we are able to see the light that signals happiness and joy once more. We have to surrender our emotions to God and know that joy is on its way. That's His promise to us.
Thank you Lord for Your comfort and Your promise of renewed joy. My heart is filled with sorrow, but I know that You are with me and my grief will pass. I will experience Your joy and peace once again. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
