Cling to your faith in Christ and keep your conscience clear.
1 Timothy 1:19
NLT Bible
God has given each one of us a conscience. It's that inner voice that warns us when something we're about to do is wrong. We've all been told to let our conscience be our guide, but that's good advice only when we're living according to the precepts of God. As children, our parents played a major role in developing our sense of right and wrong. As we grew older, many things influenced how our conscience worked.......our friends, our church, our school and our environment.
Over time, without realizing it, our sense of right and wrong may become distorted, our conscience desensitized and we begin to ignore the warnings from it and violate the morals and values we once esteemed. It's a gradual decline and then we don't care anymore. How then can we keep a good, moral conscience? We need to draw near to God through prayer and let His Word be our guide for godly living. Meditating on God's Word will reprogram our way of thinking and cause us to be alert to that inner voice within us.
Thank You Lord for the conscience that you have placed inside of me. Help me to listen to the prompting of that inner voice and to heed its warnings. May I always be alert and on guard so that I would refrain from doing things that are displeasing to You. Lord, my desire is to draw closer and closer to You. I love You Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
