"If you forgive those who sin against you, your Heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins."
Matthew 6:14
NLT Bible
We need to be constantly reminded of this. As believers, we must forgive those who have wronged us just as God forgives us. His commandment is clear and direct. Forgiveness is an act of obedience. Refusing to forgive is an indication that we cannot let go of the wrong that has been inflicted on us and we hold on to all the unhealthy emotions that go hand in hand with our inability to forgive. Sometimes, what has been done to us has affected us so much that we allow it to consume our lives and we are unable to move forward. However, until we forgive those who have wronged us, we remain caught and trapped in a web of anger, pain and resentment.
Unforgiveness can lead to a host of problems, both physical and emotional. We become stressed and consumed with what has been done to us, unable to live purpose filled lives and this hinders our walk with God. When this happens, we give the enemy a foothold in our lives, because our thoughts are not focused and centred on God. We have to forgive and allow God to deal with the rest. He will take care of those who have wronged us. Our job is simply to forgive and we can only do it with God's help. When we forgive, we receive healing, restoration, peace and freedom and the assurance that God will also forgive us.
Thank you Lord for Your forgiveness. Help me to forgive those who have wronged me and not allow it to affect my relationship with you. Father, give me a forgiving heart and fill me with Your love and peace. I love you, Jesus. Amen!
Be Blessed!
Lydia
